Region 39 Referee Points System
AYSO is a volunteer based organization. All Coaches, Referees and Board members are unpaid volunteers who give their time to make AYSO - the largest soccer club in the world - a success for children!
Each year Ventura AYSO Region 39 must fill upwards of 2000 referee positions in the 6U through 19U divisions. We can only do that when parents and family members step up to make the program work.
10U-14U Points Guidelines
- Each team is expected to provide 2 referees
- Team referees must be related to a player on the team they represent
- 2 referee points will be earned for providing an Assistant Referee
- 3 referee points will be earned for providing a Center Referee
- All team referees combined may earn a maximum of five (5) referee points a week for any single team
- Referees who represent multiple teams - can earn points for more than one team - but no single team will receive more than 5 points on any Saturday*
- Must earn 23 referee points during weeks 1 through 7 to advance to the playoff round
- A team that reaches the playoffs must earn a minimum of four (4) points in EACH of weeks 8, 9 & 10 in order to participate in Championship Saturday
- A team may NOT receive "unused" referee points from other teams or referees
- Points must be earned in the 10U-19U divisions.
- Games refereed in the 6U, 7U or 8U divisions will not earn credit for 10U-14U teams.
* There may be occasional opportunities for a bonus point(s) which allows the team/team referee to earn more than 5 points on a day.
Even if a referee is representing more than one team - the points earned for a single game may only be credited to a single team.
Youth referees may earn a maximum of 5 points a week - though they may referee more games if they desire.
If you feel there is an error or discrepancy in your referee points for weeks 1-6 you must contact your Division Coordinator within one week of the game played. Points earned for games 7 will be entered by 12:00PM Sunday; any error or discrepancies must be reported by 8:00PM of that Sunday.
To earn points - all Referees must:
- Have an approved volunteer form
- Have an approved Sterling background check
- Complete the Live Scan process
- Have completed ALL safety training - SafeSport, Safe Haven, Sudden Cardiac Arrest, Concussion Awareness
- Be appropriately certified to the level they are refereeing
- 7U and up - Regional Referee or higher
- Create and have an approved CGI account
GAME DAY REQUIREMENTS - YES these are required.
- Be at the field and arrive at least 20 minutes in advance of their game in full and appropriate uniform ready to referee. With your issued Shorts, Shirt (tucked in) and socks - pulled up. Look the part.
- Sign in on the printed schedule at the tent so we know you're there and we have a referee on the game.
- Turn in completed game cards - printing name and team for which you are contributing points (Example: B10U-07)
- Complete the game and have fun! Because refereeing is fun and the best seat in the house!
IMPORTANT: You don’t need to referee games in the same division as your child if you don’t have the proper certification. Example - your child plays 14U (requires an “Advanced” certification) but you have a “Regional” certification (good for 10U). You can still earn points by officiating a 10U game (but not a 6U, 7U, or 8U game). We will attempt to cover all games with referees with the appropriate certification FIRST. HOWEVER, we allow experienced/confident referees to referee games above their certification level - because we need to have the coverage!
Recommended! Upgrade your certification!
